Grave Trouble

As we celebrate this Resurrection Sunday, let’s dive into the Word and see how God delivers us from trouble…specifically…grave trouble!
Proverbs 12:21 NKJV
“No grave trouble will overtake the righteous.”
When I first read this scripture in the New King James Version, I was truly taken aback! Because grave trouble means that something is serious; it means that we are in a dangerous situation that no one can bring us out of…except for God. And since there was only one Man to overcome His grave trouble, I thought this translation of the scripture was made for a reason! The scripture reminds us that no matter what our situation, or what is against us, it will not overtake us. When we seek God and His righteousness, we eventually become righteous. And God has plenty of promises for His children who are righteous! Psalm 37:25-26 says “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread…and his seed is blessed.” Verse 39 of that same chapter says, “But the salvation of the righteous is od the Lord: He is their strength in the time of trouble.” So, when you feel as though you are in trouble—and serious trouble at that—remember that God has promised in His Word that whatever is troubling you will not overtake you. You will make it out, and you will overcome it!
Romans 8:11 (KJV)
“But if the spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."
Being in the grave is a symbolic saying that you are dead in the spirit. But Jesus’ death on the cross and subsequent resurrection assures us that we will have life through Him. So, no more trouble of the grave, that’s in the past!
John 11:44 (KJV)
“And he that was dead came forth, bound had and foot with graveclothes…Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.”
When Jesus delivers us from our troubles, He is freeing us from former bondage, addictions, and hurt that we couldn’t let go of on our own. When Jesus frees us, those old chains and baggage must let us go! So go in your freedom that God has given you. Just as He delivered the Israelites from bondage, He has delivered you!
Matt. 27:52-53; 28:6; Mark 16:6-9 (KJV)
“And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.”
“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said.”
The saints are considered righteous by God. When they died, their souls were protected by Him throughout the years. But when Jesus’ death occurred, their lives were resurrected for that moment. In Jesus’ death, we all have life. The moment the veil tore, was the moment we could come to life in God. And when Jesus, the only perfect and righteous man to live on earth, succumbed to death, He had no grave trouble, because He had defeated death when he died! All He had to do was get up, and we know that was no problem for our Risen King.
Luke 24:5,7 (KJV)
“…Why seek the living among the dead?”
“Saying, the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.”
Remember, when you are delivered out of your grave, don’t go back to it! Lot’s wife looked back on the former sin she had been in, and she ended up stuck looking at it forever. Don’t get stuck! Don’t seek the living among the dead. Your grave is behind you and buried and gone!
John 20:6-18 (KJV)
“Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.” v.10
“…She supposing Him to be the gardener…” v.15
“…Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.” v.20
Again, grave trouble means its something serious. When Paul and John saw the empty tomb, they pondered about it, and then just went home. No follow up or anything. Sometimes we don’t react to the trouble, and we just wait. Or we, like Mary, mistake our miracle for something we weren’t expecting. Mary thought she spoke to a gardener, someone who could help her get to her miracle. But she was speaking to her miracle—Jesus. Don’t let the grave trouble keep you perplexed, or confused about who you are talking to.
1 Corinthians 15:52, 55, 58 (KJV)
“…And the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
“O death, where is thy sting? O grave ,where is thy victory?
“…Forasmuch as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
When God promises no grave trouble for the righteous, He promises everlasting life, transformation, and rewards that we can’t even imagine. We have to keep believing that God has a plan for us, and that one day Jesus will return and make all things new.
Your grave trouble is nothing compared to the one who overcame the grave.
Happy Resurrection Sunday!
