There are times where I am just living life, but I realized I haven’t heard God’s voice. There are other times when I’m going through hardships, and I feel as though God is so far from me that I can’t reach Him. But it’s okay if I can’t reach Him…because He can reach me. And He reaches me because He hasn’t forgotten about me. Just like He hasn’t forgotten about you! God is always with us; He promised He would be in Joshua 1:5 (“…I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Let’s study some more bible verses reassuring us of God’s eternal presence!
In Psalm 27:9, the Psalmist pleads to God to “Hid not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou has been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.” This has always been my go-to scripture for when I’m feeling distant from God. I am reminded that I am not alone when I cry out, and I am not alone when He answers. When you cry out to God, He hears you always, because He never left you.
Psalm 32:5 says “I acknowledged my sin unto thee and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I ill confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.” Often times we feel as though we’re far from God after we’ve sinned. But being dead in your sins is the perfect time to come to the Living God. God sees you in every moment, so He knows when and where you have sinned. But don’t give up! Just because you’ve fallen doesn’t mean He can’t bring you back. When we turn to God honestly about our sins and seek forgiveness, He will be faithful to forgive us. And not only will He forgive, but He—in His perfect power and glory—is able to completely erase our past sins!
In Isaiah 43:25, God identifies Himself as “I even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.” God gets rid of our sins as if they never happened; Jesus’ death on the cross allows for the ultimate erasure of our sins forever. We are called back to God in every book of the bible, because He has forgotten our sins and has made us new. That’s what He says in Isaiah 44:21-22: “Remember these, O Jacob and Israel: for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; though art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me. I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.”
The only thing God forgets about you is your sin.
2 Kings 20:5 "...I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears: I will heal you...."
